There were Duncan Yo-Yo's, Red Radio Flyer Wagons, Home Made Skateboards, Schwinn Bikes, Lionel Trains, Comic Books, Barbie Dolls, Troll Dolls, Chatty Cathy Dolls, Baseball Cards With Gum, Go Fish, Old Maid, Crazy 8's, Jacks, Hearts, Spades, Monopoly, Chutes & Ladders, Sorry, Checkers, Scrabble, Candyland, Chess, Battleship, Risk, Matchbox Cars and G.I. Joe.

There were students in uniforms working at desks in orderly rows, peace and quiet and a teacher in complete control - seeing everything, knowing everything. There was the Principal's Office too.

There were tin lunch boxes with glass thermoses, the new Jack-In-The-Box around the corner, Winchell's Donuts, PF Flyers, Keds, hopscotch, wooden merry-go-round, jungle gym, marbles, card flipping, paddle ball, basketballs, footballs, baseballs and four-square.

The screeching sounds of nails scraping a blackboard, affecting every nerve, erasers soaring across the classroom every so often and the clouds of white powder from the pounding of erasers...aaah, those were the days.
